About the 2007-2008 Alexis Knox Fellows
Heather Evans
Heather Evans, MS is a Research Analyst at the YMCA of the USA. At the Y, she receives, prioritizes and fulfills research requests; provides assistance on research projects and surveys; fulfills demographic-related requests; coordinates the Research and Planning's department presence on their intranet; and provides research support to the YMCA Women’s Leadership Network steering committee. Heather graduated from DePaul University in 2007 with a master’s degree in Public Service Management (Public Policy concentration) and a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. Heather is on the board of the Younger Women’s Task Force (YWTF) Chicago Chapter; is involved with the Chicago Foundation for Women 2007 Founder’s Award Class; and is a member of the Women’s Leadership Mentoring Program, a joint venture between the YWTF and Chicago Women in Philanthropy. She enjoys traveling and running and is training for the Chicago Marathon in October of this year.
Fellowship Project
The goal of Heather Evans’ project is the development of a dynamic, interactive website – Womene Connect. The website will allow organizations to network, manage knowledge, share resources, and collaborate on a variety of programs and events devoted to the development of women and girls in the Chicago area. Proposed outcomes for the fellowship include:
- Increased connectivity between women’s organizations in the Chicago area
- Increased capacity building and knowledge sharing between women’s organizations in Chicago
- Increased access to a variety of resources
- Increased opportunities for collaboration
- Increased leadership opportunities for women in the participating organizations
