Chapter Leadership

Chapter Director: Constance H.F. Miller                                                                                                                           Constance is a feminist with an ardor for human rights, social policy, and debunking gender stereotypes. She currently works as a Specialist with the U.S. Administration for Children and Families in Chicago. Constance received a dual B.A. in Political Science and English from the University of Iowa and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota. She has previously worked with Planned Parenthood of Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota, the Women's Foundation of Minnesota, WATCH (Women At The Court House), and was a Class of 2003 Presidential Management Fellow.  In addition to YWTF, Constance proudly serves as the Board President of Rape Victim Advocates. She is blissfully married to author Matthew M.F. Miller and shares city life with their dogs, Marcy & Hazel and cat, Cleo.

Secretary:  Sarah Humphrey
Sarah Humphrey grew up in the Milwaukee area and comes from an academic background in community-based health education.  She has a passion for empowering women to take control of their lives and has worked in women's health issues and reproductive and sexual health promotion.  She currently works in medical services.  In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, reading, traveling, being outdoors, and any excuse to combine good food with good conversation.


Communications Director: Vanessa Allmon
Vanessa Allmon is currently a Master's Degree, public policy and public administration, candidate at Northwestern University. Vanessa holds a B.A. in history (with departmental honors) and a B.A. in political science, both of which she received from Loyola University of Chicago. Vanessa has worked with the Chicago Foundation for Women Young Women’s Leadership Council on advocacy projects to empower young women. She serves on the Junior Board of the Children’s Home & Aid Society. Vanessa is a member of the following organizations: the Northwestern University Black Graduate Student Association, Rotary Club of Chicago, the City Club of Chicago, the Chicago Urban League, the Black Star Project, and the League of Women Voters of Chicago, the YWCA Empowerment Circle, amongst others, and volunteers for Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

Development Director: Dorothy Brackett
Dorothy Brackett graduated with a B.A. in Russian language and literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.  Dottie works as a labor and employee relations attorney.  Her previous experiences have included working as a pro bono advocate at the Vanderbilt Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, law clerk at the ABA Commission on Immigration, and teacher for Street Law.  Currently, she also serves as Secretary for the Young Professionals Group of Between Friends, a non-profit agency dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic violence.  In her spare time she enjoys practicing Bikram yoga, reading, and exploring the city.  She lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago with her husband Greg White, an electrical engineer, and their cats Mazzie, Ollie, and Ted.   

Events Director: Krista Thomas
Krista Thomas, MSW, currently works as a Children and Families Program Specialist for the Federal Department of Health and Human Services. Born in Chicago and educated at Knox College (Galesburg, IL) and Washington University (St. Louis, MO), Krista views herself as a change agent committed to social justice and the anti-oppression movement. With a background including Spanish, International Studies, Social and Economic Development, she has studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Barcelona, Spain and spent a year volunteering in Nicaragua at the children's residential facility Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos. Krista has extensive experience working with and advocating for youth as an English teacher, public health educator, mentor group coordinator, organizer and lobbyist.  Presently, she is also involved in the Kiwanis Club of Logan Square and the Howard Brown Health Center Mentor Program.

Membership Director - Recruitment:  Colleen Norton

Colleen Norton, MSW, has been working with women and girl serving groups and organizations for many years.  She is a native of Chicago's southwest side, graduated from the University of Illinois-Urbana with a BA in labor economics (minors in Women's Studies and Sociology) and last year graduated from University of Illinois-Chicago with her Masters in Social Work.  She is currently the Senior Court Advocate at Between Friends, a domestic violence agency on the Northside of Chicago and on the advisory board of Girls in the Game.  In her spare time she loves playing ping pong, gardening, eating good food, and riding her bike around the city.

 
Membership Director - Retention:  Amanda Whiddon Robertson

Amanda Whiddon Robertson is an international development consultant with a passion for women’s equality issues at both the international and local levels. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University in Waco, TX and her M.A. in African Studies from Yale University. After graduating from Yale, Amanda worked for two international non – profit organizations prior to becoming an independent consultant. In addition to her work with YWTF, she volunteers as a women’s mentor with Interfaith Refugee and Immigration Ministries, serves on the International Relations Committee of the American Association of University Women, and is active in the local food movement. Originally from East Texas, Amanda and her husband, along with their two dogs, are now happy to make Chicago their home.
