CHAPTER DIRECTOR: Andi McClanahan, amcclanahan@po-box.esu.edu

Andi McClanahan is an Assistant Professor of Communication with studies with Gender, Politics, and Cultural Studies at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. A first generation college student, Andi is committed to working as a mentor to students who are also first generation college students. Andi’s research focuses on alternative life choice on single women including the choice to remain single and/or childless, and the societal stigma attached to these choices. Additionally, she works to deconstruct the damaging consumer ideal of romance perpetuated in the media.

In addition to teaching and research, Andi is active in Northeastern Pennsylvania as a director for the Pocono Network of Professionals, a member of the Pocono Progressives, and as organizer of the Weekly Professor column in the Pocono Record.
