The Younger Women’s Task Force, a project of the National Council of Women’s Organizations, is a nationwide, diverse and inclusive grassroots movement dedicated to organizing younger women and their allies to take action on issues that matter most to them.
By and for younger women, YWTF works both within and beyond the women’s movement, engaging all who are invested in advancing the rights of younger women.

Current State Initiatives Affecting Young Women
(Compiled by Emily Kronenberger, Policy Director, YWTF-NJ)
New Developments in New Jersey Family Care Program (SCHIP):
As of September 2008, New Jersey expanded its SCHIP program, known as Family Care, to include all children in the state, and any parents who live up to 200% above the federal poverty level. In addition, families can now buy into Family Care at an affordable rate, which varies according to family size, if they make too much money to qualify for free healthcare under the SCHIP program. This year, in 2009, the State of New Jersey will begin an extensive roll-out of this expanded program, which will provide coverage to many families and potentially vulnerable populations, including young women with children and possibly children whose parents are undocumented workers. It is critical that people receive information about this program that will provide free and affordable health coverage to women, children, and families.
